Before modern navaids were common on aircraft, becoming lost or disoriented was common. When in need, a pilot would call a flight service station or air traffic control tower to request a “DF steer” and receive a vector to be guided safely home. We like to think we’re offering the same kind of navigation support; if you’re disoriented in today’s challenging aviation insurance market, we’re here to help guide you.

Time and communication are our fundamental navigation aids. We invest the time to understand the risks facing your business and ensure you understand them as well as we do. Our consultants proactively re-evaluate those risks at each renewal period to adjust for anything that may have changed with case law, legislation or your business. When it's time to change course, we'll work with you to adjust the coordinates.

History

DF Steer was created in 2021, at a time when mergers of global brokerages resulted in shifting mandates that prioritized shareholder value over client service. We vowed to create a different kind of firm where clients come first.

Our company's roots go back more than 50 years; our parent company, Steer Inc., has offered commercial risk management and insurance broking services across Canada since 1970.
